This eggplant skin-colored wine with a light mulberry rim has an intriguing murkiness to its core. The nose smells of old cinnamon, drying red plums, tobacco leaf and worn-out leather. Its palate is vigorous in sculpted but lightly tugging tannins and bright yet integrated acidity. Evolving nicely, this seems to be nearing its peak. It’s ample structure makes it a wine for the table, thanks especially to the wine’s savory, medium finish. Enjoy now through 2017.
