Spanish Story  2014   Tempranillo (Rioja)

abv: 14.5% | Price Tier: $

The deep core of this wine has black tinges and a light touch of rust in the cherry-colored rim. The tight nose is reserved, favoring dried rose petals and beef jerky to fruity tones. The palate is savory, with flavors of beef bouillon, musk, dried black plums and caramelized Brazil nuts. The cheerful acidity has a mouthwatering quality, and the tannins are nicely reined in. The finish is all dried cranberries and tobacco. It is reaching its peak, but it’s quite pleasant at the table with hearty dishes now. Drink now through 2017.
