Medium-deep scarlet red, this wine looks slightly dull at the core. The nose is reticent, but the palate offers more flavor generosity in its boysenberries, mulberries, baking spices and incense tones. Still, despite the generous fruit, the wine finishes brusquely, with drying tannins and dry cigar notes. It’s full bodied but well-balanced in alcohol. Drink up and with meaty dishes in order save the palate from the demanding structure. Drink now through 2016.
