This wine’s deep crimson core displays a pretty brick hue. The aromas are discreet, save for some expected volatile acidity, evidencing little more than barbecue spice notes and wild plums. The palate is taut with structuring acidity and drying tannins. The flavors come around to leave a modest finish with strong tobacco leaf, dried leather and mineral notes along with tart plum, dried strawberry and cinnamon nuances. The fruit isn’t generous, making this a food wine for certain. Drink now–2016.
