This nicely concentrated yet markedly reserved wine needs some coaxing out of the glass—It would definitely benefit from a vigorous decanting prior to serving. As it opens, light wild flower notes lift from the black plum and black cherry liqueur aromas. The palate is rigorous with choppy, lightly clenching tannins that mesh nicely with the buoyant acidity. A leathery character comes through on the moderate finish, showing initial tertiary development. Drink now–2024.
