Brick in appearance, this wine’s somewhat muted fruit on the nose does show notes of spice drawer and dried roses. With time, it opens up only a hair more in the glass. The thin, moderately concentrated and dried fruit character on the palate offers grenadine, allspice and smoked meat. Dry, sticky tannins and bracing acidity compete with the meager, steely fruit to dominate the palate. The finish shows good persistence, but feels exceptionally dry. Drink now–2024.
