This wine is ample in body, with a vibrant structure of invigorating acidity and strapping tannins that give it harmony. The flavors range from prune to black currant, while anise makes a midpalate appearance. While there is no shortage of ripeness here, yet there is excellent palate lift. With air—which this wine absolutely needs—there is a spicy note that adds some savory interest. Drink up soon, however, because despite the excellent framing, this wine’s fruit is drying out.
