This supremely ripe wine displays aromas of black raisin, dried fig and fresh paint. Its palate is faithful to the nose, adding only a mild blueberry-preserve note that leads to a modest finish of beef jerky and tobacco leaf. It is zingingly dry from start to finish, thanks to both its pronounced acidity and stringy, drying tannins. There’s not much charm here, and this wine won’t make old bones, so pair with hearty stews or a cassoulet now–2019.
