The center of this wine is deeply flushed with black. The neon fuchsia background seems pushed to the edges. The nose smells like red velvet cake cola, candied walnuts and cranberry-orange compote also play roles. Juicy on the palate, the wine is well supported by lively acidity despite its fairly full body and moderate-plus glycerol. The tannins are dusty and pervasive and gradually fade with the lingering finish. Not profound but satisfying for a casual drink. Good for by the glass pours in casual restaurants. Drink now to early 2014.
