A maturing nose accompanies this wine’s brick-tinged rim. It pleasantly smells of damp earth, dried meat and wilting roses. The palate has nicely developed if still moderately chewy tannins that pair well with the supporting, medium acidity. The finish has good length, even if it shows only a modest array of flavors. This could serve well as an offering with some age on it for a mainstream trattoria wine list. Drink now through mid-2017.
