Bodega Villa d'Orta 2013 Biológico

Cabernet Sauvignon (Somontano)

Tar black at the core, this wine has a tiny neon magenta rim. Its vigorously fresh nose smells of evergreen forest, hot tar and black raisin. The palate transitions to black cherries, sweet cola and fresh cinnamon sticks. Though this wine is highly ripe, it has managed to retain a surprising amount of freshness. The nervous acidity is bracing and the hearty tannins stop just short of drying. Full bodied and full flavored, it offers notes of tobacco leaf and dusty earth on the medium-plus finish. There’s a lot of substance and structure here, and it is a terrific wine for the table, best enjoyed now through 2019.
