Viña Cerrón 2009 Rabia
Petit Verdot (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla)
The impenetrable color of this wine with its tiny crimson rim suggests a bruiser of a wine—indeed, it is. The aromas are powerful with the oak presiding over the fruit. The fruit, however, is not bashful. On the palate, there is ample boysenberry, spiced plums and fig compote. Despite this lovely, diverse fruit character, the chocolate, vanilla, resin and burned French toast character dominate. For oak hounds, it’s a great treat. The medium tannins are contributed by the grape and the oak, and there is just enough acidity to keep the wine alight. The finish is a solid medium length. Drink 2013–2016.
