Domaine Guizard 2012 Grés de Montpellier
Rhône-style Red Blend (Coteaux du Languedoc)
Cherry-colored but flecked with black, this wine is bright, if not as crystal bright as some of its peers. It shows an underlying earthiness on both the nose and palate. It also tastes of creosote, game, crunchy blackberry and peak-of-season fig. The acidity is slightly nervous and the tannins are chewy. Medium-plus in body, with a lovely sippability and no cumbersome glycerol, this is a delicious wine that has room to age a bit further given its lingering finish. Drink now–2019.
