Beetle-shell black from core to the thin red rim, this wine has an imposing appearance. Though comprised of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Shiraz and 7% Malbec, the bouquet is distinctly Cab, with notes of blackcurrant, licorice, tar and cedar nose. Vibrant on the palate, with lilting acidity, this wine drinks on its own or with food—the latter thanks especially to the lack of obvious new oak. Gangly tannins add some zest to the full-bodied palate. Overall, it’s easy to imagine sipping through this bottle more quickly than you might expect. Drink now through 2019.
