Tar & Roses 2017
Shiraz (Heathcote)
This rich red smells of baked black fig, black plum preserves and sloe jam. It’s a front-loaded wine that shows all of the appeal in the nose and attack on the palate. There is little varietal definition, but this will be a big red wine many will find easy-drinking. Baking spices emerge with a bang on the short finish. It’s a dense, pleasure-seekers’ red, with lightly clenching tannins and laid-back acidity. Drink now–2021.
