Merlot (Sainte-Foy Bordeaux)

Deep crimson color verges on opaque. Very attractive nose of cedar, spice box, dried thyme and fresh-snapped twigs. Forest berries hide in the background on the nose of this aromatic wine. The palate shows lightly stewed fruits—mostly red cherries—with faint dried sage notes. Only medium acidity and soft, round tannins make for a rather flabby palate. Drink now to 2013.
