The palate brings on black pepper, sweet spice, charred game and damp cigar. The oak spice is nicely integrated and adds a touch of complexity to the modest flavors on the palate. The tannins are fine-grained but turn coarse and saliva-wicking on the medium-length finish. This is an intense wine that needs a meal and is probably near its drinking prime, so enjoy before 2018.
