This wine is intense and glass-staining in color, with an inky black core and a small, mulberry rim. The nose is unctuous in ripe, black fruits and baking spices, tinged with licorice, cinnamon and maple syrup. While the wine is generous in a custard-like texture on the palate, it is entirely dry on the attack, and it is impressively balanced. There are suave, finessed tannins that turn lightly dry on the finish as well as fresh acidity to keep the wine well-suited for the table. The finish is solid, and while the wine drinks well today, it will also hold well. Drink through 2018.
