Baden Numen 2012
Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)
This wine’s opaque black core and bright magenta rim stain the glass when swirled. Tiny tears of color continue down the sides of the glass for minutes. The nose smells of sloe jam, loganberry, cola and creosote. Though mouthcoating and medium-plus bodied, the wine’s core is only moderately concentrated. Its tannins are impressively fine, lightly drying and quite persistent. The acidity is well integrated, helping to keep the flavors fresh. This structure could benefit from food, but overall a sippable wine. Drink now through 2017.
