Montepulciano (Montepulciano d'Abruzzo)

Dark crimson at the core, with a medium-deep magenta rim, this wine packs lots of personality. Blueberries, roasted black plums, black raisins and cassis saturate the palate with each sip. However, stale aromas and tertiary flavors are working hard to dominate the wine. The mouthfeel is pleasantly voluptuous, with a custardy concentration and relaxed acidity. Luckily, the lightly choppy tannins provide just enough lift for a meaty, belly-filling stew. Drink now–2018.
