Syrah (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla)

This Syrah is saturated with black and rimmed with crimson. The nose is reserved yet evidently ripe. Menthol, sloe and boysenberry come through with some air. Full bodied yet not very viscous, this wine is smartly balanced by slightly gangly, drying tannins and solid acidity. Cassis, incense and old cigar add excitement on the palate. Though this is a straightforward wine, it is pleasant and highly drinkable with no evidence of oak. Sip now through late 2014, especially with grilled red meats.
