Domaine Rety 2012
Rhône-style Red Blend (Côtes du Roussillon Villages)
Deep purple and black in color, this wine has a highly ripe nose reminiscent of prune, boysenberry, fig cake and baking spice. The palate is surprisingly linear after the welcoming nose and is almost lightly medicinal. There is no obvious oak use in terms of flavor enhancement or breadth on the palate. In fact, the fruit is downright crunchy on the palate. Although the acidity is medium and integrated, the tannins are more pungent, showing a mouth-drying quality. Drink now through mid-2015, while the fruit is still somewhat fresh.
