Tempranillo (Rioja)

Bold and smoky on the nose, this is an enormously concentrated wine from an aromatic perspective. Very juicy on the palate, there are black berries and currants accompanied by potting soil. Firm and full bodied, with some noticeable alcohol, it is generous and a touch heady, with lingering flavors and zippy acidity on the finish. It fits the bill in terms of certain Rioja character, but for such a young reserva, it is already showing fatigue and heaviness. Drink now–2019.
