This raven-colored wine has a purple-tinged, magenta rim. Its bouquet is moderately forward and showing both youthful and developed notes. It smells of a dry-aging locker for steaks, hot asphalt, musk and blackberries. Despite the nicely nuanced layers of spice and fruit, as well as the almost bracing acidity, the full-bodied palate falls a bit flat, the tongue-coating extract weighing the wine down. It seems to be reaching its peak but should hold well enough through 2018.
