This wine is raven black at the core, with a moderately large, neon-magenta rim. Fresh and vibrant on the nose, with oodles of wound-up, youthful fruit, it smells like it is fresh out of the fermenter. Boysenberry, blueberry and black cherry take center stage. The palate adds notes of dried branches and cinnamon. Sumptuously fruit-driven on the palate, the medium finish turns to more mineral, slate-like notes. There’s a lovely harmony on the palate between the wine’s medium-plus body, gossamer tannins, crisp acidity and tour-de-force energy. Hard to resist, this will please just about every crowd. Drink now through 2017.
