Rhône-style Red Blend (Minervois)

Deep black shading runs through the center of this raspberry-rimmed wine. The nose is fresh, pure and lightly candied. Dark chocolate, toasted pecan and soy accompany bountiful notes of ripe black cherry. The palate is round and generous without being heavy, while the accommodatingly soft tannins weave easily into the wine and perky acidity gives the wine real verve. However, dark chocolate and maple syrup notes persist to a point of almost covering up the lovely berry fruit. A good by-the-glass option, or by the bottle for more casual meals like midweek pastas, pizzas, cheese and charcuterie. Drink now–2017.
