White Blend (Valencia)

Bright yellow in color, with a wide, watery rim, this smells of cotton candy and watermelon Jolly Ranchers. The palate is similarly confected, but it also has exuberant acidity and a suspicion of pithy phenolics on the quick finish that tastes vaguely of salted caramel. Made to be early- and easy-drinking, it should hit the spot in casual settings. It is, however, seriously thiol-driven, so whatever its price, drink it up before those perky notes fade.
