Cabernet Sauvignon (McLaren Vale)

This wine offers a dramatic swoosh of cedar, mint, mocha and Christmas spice. Chocolate, toast and caramel dominate the mouthfilling attack, which follows with cassis and blueberry preserves. The alcohol is almost eyewateringly pungent at first, but the plentiful, compact fruit core backs it up nicely. The sassy acidity and fine but dusty tannins do, too. A gracious wine for the table, this is complex, engaging and layered. Drink now–2024.
