This starts with an exuberant nose of chocolate, blackberry and toast. The palate follows with the same but doesn’t offer much more complexity. The tannins feel taut and grippy, but the acidity hovers timidly on the back palate. The modest finish opens to some mineral notes but is resolutely—tuggingly—dry. Though not noticeably high in alcohol, this is just dried out in fruit with prune flavors coming through as the wine continues to open. Drink now.
