This is pungent with its oodles of purple fruit and crushed peppercorns. Plus, there is a clear suaveness to the wine that is noticeably impressive for its moderate finish. It is robust and nicely concentrated in fruit but the flavors are rather uniform and one-dimensional. The smartly-focused structure is balanced between seamless, mildly firm tannins and vibrant back palate acidity. While there is only moderate complexity to evolve in bottle, this does have a finely-honed structure that should give it good staying power. Drink now–2025.
