Black penetrates the core of this wine while crimson highlights peek through at the rim. Spice-soaked prune, baked fig and sweet cream scream from the glass. The supple palate follows the nose, adding pancake syrup and anise. This coats the mouth, with a good bit of glycerol and lots of weight. Nonetheless, there’s solidly supporting acidity and a small wave of tight-grained tannins to keep the structure in check. The finish lingers nicely. Drink now through 2019.
