Chateau Capion 2016 Le Chemin des Garennes
Syrah-Grenache (Terrasses du Larzac)
Though broodingly dark in appearance, this wine is reserved on the nose, but with time in the glass, a vibrant peppery note comes to the fore. Flavors of fresh blackberries and mulberries surface on the palate, along with a strong crushed slate tone. The mouthfeel is gracefully balanced by chipper, refreshing acidity and short-grained, sticky tannins. Though a robust, full-flavored and full-bodied wine,it has the harmony to drink well alone or at the dinner table. This may hold given the medium finish, but it’s really lovely now. Drink now–2022.
