Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

Effusive and pungent with gobs of black fruits, this deeply colored wine does not disappoint in aromas. It starts with cassis, fig and loganberry and quickly follows with allspice, clove and melted chocolate. The palate boasts a nice creaminess without feeling thick or leaden. There’s plenty of supporting acidity to complement the surprisingly silky—almost lacksidaisical—tannins. Medium-plus in length with an equal balance of influences from oak, fruit and maturity. Drink now through 2018.
