The slightly desiccated fruit of black plum and cherry is pervasive, but met with dried violet. Pencil lead underscores the creamy-textured palate. Though the tannins are explosive and gritty, surprisingly, there is a freshness of acidity in the finish. This is a full-bodied wine whose nuances get somewhat lost in its broad brushstrokes. Shelf for five to 10 years.
