A bit sullen on the nose, with on-going aeration, this wine starts to release notes of heather, tea leaves and crunchy red fruits. The attack has a more powerful message of goji berries and açai in fruit flavors. Its palate is similarly feisty. The broad, somewhat muscular tannins give it heft and pleasant dryness. There is rambunctious acidity that dashes into the back palate on the finish. It delivers freshness but feels disassociated from the rest of the wine. The finish, despite the good fruit concentration, is surprisingly clipped. Drink now–2023.
