Rodriguez de Vera 2011 Sorrasca
Petit Verdot (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla)
Raven black at the opaque core, this wine has a small but seriously intense Morello cherry rim. The nose is on point, exuding mineral tones and deeply ripe black fruits. The palate is turbo-charged in blackberry and black currant flavors, as well as clearly emerging leather notes. While not a newborn in its flavor profile, it certainly has plenty of freshness thanks to its zippy acidity and talc-like tannins. The finish is significant and diversified in flavor. Nearing its peak, this is a terrific wine now and through 2017.
