Chardonnay (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla)

Gleaming straw in color with a watery rim, this wine has an equally gentle nose of sweet pear and Canary melon flavors that are backed by cinnamon and custard. Nodding to its varietal character, this wine shows an affinity for lees aging, with its creamy texture, as well as for oak, with its bags of baking spice. Medium-bodied with a nicely mineral undercurrent, this could easily be mistaken for a Mâconnais from Burgundy. Drink now through 2017.
