This broodingly opaque, beetle-shell-black wine has a nose bursting out of the glass. It smells of cola, licorice and nougat mixed into a cornucopia of black fruits. Slightly tart acidity accompanies chewy, strapping tannins and pulls the wine into a solid finish laced with milk chocolate. Built like a linebacker, this has grip and vigor. The primary drawback is that it is so high in alcohol that it feels lightly laced with distilled spirit.
