Vins Descombe 2014
Rhône-style Red Blend (Côtes du Rhône)
|
This wine is dark garnet at the core, with a crimson rim both shades suggest it might have some bottle age. The aromas are reserved, and on the palate, the wine shows advancement, with fallen autumn leaves and dried fruits. Lingonberries, strawberries and raspberries abound along with grated hard spices and dried earth. The tannins are a bit firm and leaning toward a touch astringent as they are coupled with the high-pitched acidity, but that’s nothing a nice piece of veal can’t handle. It’s drinking well now, and is a good choice for those that aren’t keen on new oak. Drink now through 2016.
