There is definitely new oak on this wine, but even though it’s prominent, it’s still stylish. Dark maroon rims the opaque, raven-black core. The attack is boldly and powerfully fruit-driven in waves of black cherry, mulberry and blueberry, accented by notes of savory spice, dark chocolate and musk. Full bodied, with generous alcohol but well-balanced by sculpted tannins and roaring, refreshing acidity, this wine works well alone or with food, and would be a nice wine by the glass at a trendy wine bar. Drink now–2022.
