Thompson Estate  2014 Four Chambers

Cabernet-Shiraz (Margaret River)

This dark scarlet wine has a small, fire engine red rim. Its nose is reticent, showing only traces of evergreen, but the palate displays nicely ripe forest berries and black cherries. It’s creamy and supple, with smooth tannins and perky acidity that holds up the full-bodied structure. There isn’t a broad array of flavors, but its upfront fruit and refreshing style would make this good for casual sipping with or without food. Lightly smoky and chocolaty notes on the finish suggest it would be a great accompaniment for smoked meats or dishes with mole sauce. Drink now–2018.
