Domaine Deveza 2009 Opus
Rhône-style Red Blend (Côtes du Roussillon Villages)
Deep black in color with a small, deep mauve rim, the nose is fairly open and shows both youthful and developing aromas. The former focuses on blackberries, black currants, saffron and bay leaves while the latter shows marsh bottoms, tobacco leaves and tar. Faint, toasted hazelnut aromas point to judicious oak use. Fiercely tannic and displaying pronounced acidity, this is a food wine. The medium-plus finish and important structure suggest this wine will develop well for 4–5 more years.
