Near opaque at the core, this wine has a rusty crimson color. It is meaty on the nose, with blackberry, leather and tar aromas. Likewise, the palate shows a nice mix of tertiary and fresh aromas. A whiff of vanilla and fresh-grated cinnamon accompanies the roasted meat flavors. Full-bodied, with high but smartly balanced alcohol, the moderate acidity is aided by slightly chewy tannins. This is a nice wine for grilled meats. Drink now through 2018.
