Producers who are completely devoid of U.S. representation (excluding Puerto Rico) may submit products for review. Products submitted by producers that have any current U.S. representation, even in just one state, will be deemed ineligible for tasting, and the submission fee will not be reimbursed.
Barrel samples are not eligible for review; only final/finished wines are eligible for submission. All products must be properly labeled with final images; handwritten or sticker vintage changes to official product labels will not be accepted.
Each vintage wine may only be submitted once to the Wine Enthusiast Importer Connection Program for review. Any wine submitted to the Wine Enthusiast Importer Connection Program may not be submitted for rating and review to Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
There is a $395 charge per wine for submitting products. In addition to the $395 entry fee, producers will be responsible for any international shipping costs, import taxes, and U.S. customs filing and handling fees incurred, which will be billed separately by our preferred clearing house, The American Spirits Exchange Ltd.
Once your wine submission is approved, the Wine Enthusiast Importer Connection team will reach out to you directly to discuss shipment. Please do not ship your wine until you have received approval confirmation—submissions received without authorization and a completed online application will not be reviewed.
We ask that submitters provide two bottles of each wine to be tasted; single bottles will be accepted, but your wine will not be tasted if the sample provided is corked or otherwise compromised and your submission fee will not be refunded.
All tastings are performed blind by our expert tasters at our headquarters in New York. Typically, products are tasted in peer-group flights of 4–8 samples. Pricing tier, production size, provenance and grape variety are not factors in assigning scores. When possible, products considered flawed or uncustomary are retasted.
All wines rated at 80 points or higher will be published in the Wine Enthusiast Importer Connection newsletter as well as online in the searchable Wine Enthusiast Importer Connection database.
Each wine review page in our searchable database offers a link to a printable sell sheet which includes your wine name, rating, review and producer contact information under a Wine Enthusiast Importer Connection logo.
