This wine boasts a deep black color at the core, with a lighter prune juice color at the rim. There is enough sappiness in the generously ripe fruit to make the wine breathtakingly cloying on the palate, especially in light of the fairly lazy acidity. Full bodied and gluttonous, with lax tannins, there’s not enough freshness in the wine’s structure to help it hold well much longer, despite the fruit’s moderate finish. Best enjoyed by 2017.
