This bottling is black-purple from core to rim. Upon opening, it is lightly stinky, with struck match and damp forest floor notes. With decanting and air, the wine loses these characteristics quickly. The broad palate is somewhat flat, with generously ripe fruits and modest acidity. Many imbibers will like the wine thanks to its absolute lack of bitterness and easy structure, but others will find it flabby and lacking vibrancy. The finish is quick, as will be the life of the wine given its lenient structure. Drink now through 2017.
