Obsidian black, with a tiny, rust-inflected rim, this wine’s bouquet offers scents of damp forest floor, mulled wine and clove. The palate is full bodied and voluptuous, with oodles of sweet spices, rose petals and ripe black fruits, especially plums and blackberries. The acidity is bright and integrated, and the tannins and firm and somewhat sinewy. Evolving nicely, this is likely at its peak now, though it should last another two years with some additional evolution to benefit enjoy through 2017.
