As black as tar, this wine has a brooding nose of graphite and black plum skin. The palate shows a bit more breadth, with blueberry jam, overripe boysenberry, black cherry and touches of cola and licorice. The full body shows a hint of warmth, but the well-integrated acidity and suave, lightly drying tannins make this an approachable drink. Best in the short term before the vigorous structure takes over enjoy now through 2017.
