This wine has a dark, blackish core and a mulberry rim. The nose is reticent and suggests the wine would benefit from decanting. There are smidgeons of iron, ink and black fruit. The palate is similarly sullen, with loads of forest berries but very little complexity. Not surprisingly, the finish is quick. The tannins are slightly dry and the alcohol is a touch high. The crackling acidity works hard to keep everything balanced. Drink now–2017.
