An impenetrable black color at its core, with a small but bright raspberry rim. The reserved nose offers boysenberry and lingonberry aromas alongside slate and garrigue. Viscous on the attack and across the palate, the alcohol is evident in this foursquare wine. The wine draws structure more from its lightly astringent tannins than its modest acidity. Oak notes of chocolate and spice cake add allure without dominating the fruit. Drink now–2016, with some positive development possible.
